De Jersey Lewis Henry

 

 

Born Mathinna Tasmania the son of William Edward and Annie De Jersey (nee Quodrill) married to Brightie Brittania Knight with one child a box maker from Dover Tasmania he embarked Brisbane 9th September 1915 on board “HMAT Ballarat” with the 26th Infantry Battalion.

 

He was invalided back to Australia 14th January 1917 on board hospital ship “HMAT Kanowna” because of a gunshot wound to the right forearm and was discharged as medically unfit at Hobart on the 18th May 1917.

He died 30th October 1918 as a result of service in Sydney and was buried in the Rookwood Necropolis, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.

DE JERSEY-October 30, 1918, at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Pte. Lewis Henry De Jersey, late 26th Batt., aged 24 years. Inserted by his mate, Jock Hanaford
