Deacon, John Douglas

 

Born 18th September 1885 Longford Tasmania to Thomas and Elizabeth Deacon (nee Douglas) a labourer he departed Melbourne 4th June 1915 on board “HMAT Ajana” with the 15th Infantry Battalion.

 

On the 21st August 1915 he was wounded at Gallipoli with a gunshot wound to the chest and another to the hip and admitted to the 16th Casualty Clearing Station.  On the 28th August 1915 he was transferred to the 4th Field Ambulance Mudros and from there transferred to King George Hospital London on the 9th September where he died 15th September 1915.

 He was buried in the Kensal Green (St Mary's) Roman Catholic Cemetery, United Kingdom.
