Deacon, John Douglas

Born 18^th September 1885 Longford Tasmania to Thomas and Elizabeth Deacon (nee Douglas) a labourer he departed Melbourne 4^th June 1915 on board “HMAT Ajana” with the 15^th Infantry Battalion.

On the 21^st August 1915 he was wounded at Gallipoli with a gunshot wound to the chest and another to the hip and admitted to the 16^th Casualty Clearing Station.  On the 28^th August 1915 he was transferred to the 4^th Field Ambulance Mudros and from there transferred to King George Hospital London on the 9^th September where he died 15^th September 1915.

 He was buried in the Kensal Green (St Mary's) Roman Catholic Cemetery, United Kingdom.
