Dennis, Roderick George

 

Born 15th March 1886 Longford Tasmania to George and Annie Maria Dennis (nee Burrows) a labourer who embarked Hobart 20th October 1914 on board “HMAT Geelong” with the 12th Infantry Battalion.

He was killed in action 2nd May 1915 on the Gallipoli Peninsula and is commemorated on the Lone Pine Memorial, Gallipoli, Turkey.

Mr. and Mrs. George Dennis of Perth received word on Monday evening that their eldest son, Roderick, had been killed in the Dardanelles last Thursday. He was a native of Perth and his late grandparents were some of the earliest colonists. Another Perth casualty is a cousin, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Dennis. He was wounded, but has now returned to the front.
