Dunham, Roy Herbert
Born 1894 Deloraine Tasmania to Charles and Ellen Dunham (nee Carr) married and a farmer who departed Hobart 20th October 1914 on board “HMAT Geelong” with the 3rd Light Horse Regiment He died 16th July 1918 in Palestine from wounds received in the field and was buried in the Jerusalem War Cemetery, Israel. Private Roy Dunham of Deloraine volunteered for active service on August 10, 1914, went to camp on August 19, sailed for Egypt in October was wounded on Gallipoli, and had seven days at Imbros Island. He was wounded again on August 10 (bomb and shrapnel) and arrived in England in September. Later he had his right arm fractured in France. Finally he was killed in action in Egypt July 16 1916. Truly a great record and one of which his relatives may justly be proud.
