Dyas Ernest Harold
Born 9th January 1892 to Richard and Margaret Dyas (nee Blades) he enlisted 3rd March 1916 and was posted to the 29th Battalion. He died 23rd November 1917 of wounds received at Polygon Wood and was buried Irish House Cemetery Belguim. ROLL OF HONOUR sincere regret was expressed by the residents of the district when it became known that Mr. and Mrs. Richard Dyas, Pioneer, had received official advice that their son, Private Ernest H. Dyas (Ted) had made the supreme sacrifice on the battlefields of France. Rev. Mr. Raffbroke the sad news to the parents. Private Dyas enlisted upwards of twelve months ago. He was 26 years old and had been reared in the district. At one time he was employed on the Pioneer tin mine. He was of a quiet and genial disposition, and had many friends.
