Dyson, Vere Clifton

 

Born 27th April 1894 Mersey Tasmania the son of Charles and Isabella Dyson (nee Johnson) married to Myrtle Mary James a labourer he embarked Adelaide 10th February 1917 on board “HMAT Seang Bee” with the 40th Infantry Battalion. 

He was killed in action 5th October 1917 in Belgium and is commemorated on the Menin Gate Memorial, Ypres, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium. 

Mrs. M. M. Dyson South Preston has received through Rev. J. W. Fisher the sad news that her husband, Pte. V. C. Dyson of the 10th Battalion was killed in action on October 5, 1917. Pte. Dyson was previously reported missing, and hopes had been held of his being alive but a prisoner of war. Deceased was 22 years of age.
