Eastman Leonard

 

Born 1899 Beaconsfield Tasmania the son of Morgan Angus and Edith Jane Eastman (nee Wyett) a bank clerk he embarked Melbourne 30th October 1917 on board “HMAT Aeneas” with the 40th Infantry Battalion.

 

He had previously served with the 92nd Infantry.  He returned to Australia 17th March 1919 per “Plassy)

 

He died 5th October 1920 as a result of his service abroard and was buried in the Carr Villa Cemetery Launceston

 

The death occurred at Struan Private Hospital on October 5th of Private Leonard Eastman son of Mrs E J Eastman Launceston and the late Mr M A Eastman.  Private Eastman left Tasmania with the 40th Battalion and returned to Launceston during last year.  Prior to enlistment he was in the service of the National Bank of Australia Limited at the Derby Branch
