Eddie Maxwell Hardwicke

 

 

Born 1st July 1893 Launceston Tasmania the son of George Theopilus and Laura Jane Eddie (nee Hardwicke) a clerk he embarked Melbourne 4th June 1915 on board “HMAT Ajana” with the 6th Field Ambulance.

 

He died 5th September 1918 in an aerial fight over Brebieres and is commemorated on the Arras Flying Services Memorial, Arras, Nord Pas de Calais, France

 

On the 5th September 1918 officially reported killed in action Lieutenant Maxwell Hardwicke Eddie AFC 4th Squadron dearly loved second son of G.T. and Laura Eddie.  After almost four years service in Egypt, Gallipoli and France he fell in aerial combat while on patrol somewhere between Douai and Cambrai in France.
