ELLIS, ALFRED THOMAS

The unveiling of a window dedicated to the memory of the late Lieut. Alfred Thomas Ellis, 26th Battalion, A.I.F., son of Mr. W. H. Ellis, Kempton, took place in St. Mary's Anglican Church, Kempton yesterday. The church was crowded, the congregation including visitors from Hobart, Bothwell, Jericho, and Bagdad, etc. The Warden (Mr. E. O. Bisdee) was present, and several numbers of the deceased's battalion attended

Archdeacon Whitington occupied the pulpit, and was assisted at the service by the rector (Rev. C. Allen). The subject of Archdeacon Whitington's address was, "Be faithful until death." Special hymns wore sung. The unveiling ceremony was performed by Capt. H. G. Gray, 26th Battalion, who was beside the deceased when he was killed. The subject treated in the design of the window is faith, and the work has been most artistically done. The Mercury 23 Sep 1918
