ELPHINSTONE, LINDSAY WILLIAM
Portrait of 4493 Private (Pte) Lindsay William Elphinstone, 12th Battalion. A farmer from Penguin,Tas prior to enlistment, Pte Elphinstone embarked with the 14th Reinforcements from Melbourne aboard HMAT Warilda on 8 February 1916. Later transferring to the 13th Light Trench Mortar Battery, he was killed in action on 25 September 1917, aged 23, and is commemorated on the Villers Bretonneux Memorial.
