TASMANIAN CASUALTIES

The sad news was received by Mr. J. Falconer, Derby, that his son (Private George Falconer) had died from meningitis in Belgium. The deceased soldier was a local lad, and enlisted in Launceston with the first expeditionary forces at the outbreak of war, and was at the Dardanelles. He returned from Egypt on leave, but later was engaged in France. He was a very popular young fellow, and the sympathy of the residents of the district is with the bereaved parents.
