Farquhar Albert Gustavus

Seated is 3320 Private (Pte) Albert Gustavus Farquhar, 1st Battalion, of Scotsdale, Tas, who was a labourer prior to enlisting in July 1915. He embarked from Sydney with the 11th Reinforcements on board HMAT Themistocles (A32) on 5 October 1915. Pte Farquhar was killed in action at Pozieres, France, on 25 July 1916. He was 29 years of age. Private Albert (Ab) Farquhar of Scottsdale has been killed in France. The deceased soldier was a blacksmith by trade and a quiet unassuming young man. He was the second son of the late Alex Farquhar and grandson of Mrs Jane Farquhar one of our earliest pioneers. He was 30 years of age The Weekly Courier 24th August 1916
