If you could spare a few dollars to help with the running costs of hosting this website to keep it alive would be very much appreciated.

Thankyou from Gravesites of Tasmania in advance.

Field, Lindsay McRae

Born 5th June 1893 Westbury Tasmania to George and Ethel Field (nee Archer) a farmer who embarked Hobart 20th October 1914 on board “HMAT Geelong” with the 3rd Light Horse Regiment.

Sgt Field was killed in action 19th April 1917 in Palestine and was buried in the Gaza War Cemetery, Israel.

Sergt Max Field was the second son of Mr. and Mrs. Geo. W. Field, Moorlands, Kimberley and was one of the first boys to enlist in the Deloraine district. He joined the 3rd Light Horse and left Australia with the First Expeditionary Force. He had been on active service ever since going through the whole of the Gallipolli and Egyptian campaigns without once leaving his unit. About the middle of last year he left the Light horse joining the Imperial Camel Corps as sergeant. He had a genial, happy, disposition, and was much loved by his friends and comrades. Heartfelt sympathy is felt for Mr and Mrs. Field and family in their great grief..

Launceston Examiner 28th April 1917
