Finch, Colin Augustus

 

 

Born 26th November 1896 Ulverstone Tasmania the son of Frederick Augustus and Louisa Elizabeth Finch (nee McDonald) a bank clerk living in Kew Victoria he embarked Melbourne 28th January 1916 on board “HMAT Themistocles” with the 2nd Divisional Signal Company.

He was killed in action 20th September 1917 in Belgium and is commemorated on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial, Belgium.

The news that Sapper Colin A Finch was killed in action in France on September 20th was conveyed to his parents Mr and Mrs F A Finch “Koromiko” Beaconsfield by the Rev Mr Harris.  Sapper C A Finch was educated at Trinity Grammar School Kew Melbourne and entered the service of the Royal Bank Melbourne.
