Farrelly, Jerome Anstey
Born 1897 Lilydale Tasmania the son of Michael and Mary Margaret Farrelly (nee Clark) a farm labourer he embarked Hobart on board “HMAT Berrima” with the 40th Infantry Battalion. He was serving with the 49th Battalion when he died 23rd July 1917 in England from wounds received in the field and was buried in the Brookwood Military Cemetery, United Kingdom. Mr. M Farrelly of Scottsdale, has received word of the death of his son, Private Jerome Farrelly, who was severely wounded in the head on June 16 last, while fighting in France. The news came as a severe blow to his aged parents, for only a few days previously they had received word that he was progressing favourably. The Examiner 10th August 1917
