Gardiner, Herbert George

 

Born 1892 Portland Tasmania the son of William and Edith Helen Gardiner (nee Leppard) a miner who embarked Brisbane 29th June 1915 on board “HMAT Aeneas’ with the 26th Infantry Battalion.

He was killed in action 5th October 1917 in Belgium and is commemorated on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial, Belgium. 

His brother Pte Clarence Edward Gardiner (No 1228) died 11th September 1915 at Malta from wounds received at Gallipoli and is buried in the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial, Belgium.

GARDENER.-Killed in action in France on 5th October, 1918, Private Herbert George Gardiner; also Private Clarence Gardiner died of wounds received at Gallipoli on Septemher 11, 1915, beloved sons of W. and E. Gardiner, of Weldborough, and dearly loved brothers of Mrs. E. Beechey, Cradoc, Huon. Brothers united.
