Gates, Harold Joseph
Born 1892 Boat Harbour Tasmania to Robert Henry and Jane Watt Gates (nee Shearer) a labourer he embarked Melbourne 5th January 1916 on board “HMAT Afric” with the 26th Infantry Battalion. He died 6th August 1916 at the 44th Casualty Clearing Station from shrapnel wounds to the back and was buried in the Puchevillers British Cemetery, France.
