Giblin Leonard
Born 22nd November 1886 Tasmania but living in Sydney the son of Edward Owen and Edith Harriet Giblin (nee Westbrook) a surveyor he embarked Melbourne 6th June 1916 on board “HMAT Wandilla” with the 3rd Pioneer Battalion and the rank of 2nd Lieutenant
He was killed in action 31st December 1916 at Armentieres France and is commemorated in the Cite Bonjean Military Cemetery, Armentieres, Lille, Nord Pas de Calais, France LIEUTENANT LEONARD GIBLIN It is officially reported that Lieut Leonard Giblin, son of the late Dr E O Giblin of Tasmania, and of Mrs. Giblin, of Woollahra was killed in action in France on December 31. He was 30 years of age, and left with a Pioneer Battalion in June last. Lieut Giblin was a native of Hobart and was educated at the Sydney Gramnar School. He was a member of the firm of Barlow and Giblin, surveyors. of this city. The Sydney Morning Herald 11th January 1917
