Gilbert, George Raymond

Born 25^th March 1893 Richmond Tasmania to George and Selina Gilbert (nee Miller) a labourer who departed Melbourne 22^nd December 1914 on board “HMAT Ceramic” with the 15^th Infantry Battalion.

Sgt Gilbert was admitted to the 2^nd Australian Field Ambulance with bullet wounds to the chest and arms. These were received accidentally and a court of enquiry 22^nd February 1917 found no soldier was to blame. He died from his injuries 21^st February 1917.

He was buried Becourt Military Cemetery, Becordel-Becourt, France.
