Goode, George Noakes Macaulay
Lt G M Goode 47th Battalion, taken a Messines, France 7th June 1917, He was shot in the Face that afternoon, & Died on 12/6/1917 Born 1884 Camden New South Wales the son of George and Harriet Goode, an electrical engineer and farmer, he enlisted Brighton Tasmania and embarked Melbourne 22nd September 1914 on board “HMAT Geelong” with the 3rd Field Company Engineers. He served on the Gallipoli Peninsula and on 19th March 1916 he was appointed Lance Corporal whilst serving with the 3rd Light Horse Brigade and by 8h November 1916 had reached the rank of Lieutenant. Lieutenant George Noakes Macauley Goode was serving with the 47th Battalion when he died at the 10th Stationary Hospital France from wounds received when shot in the face by a sniper on 7 june 1917, while leading "B" Company 5th Platoon into action at "Hun's Corner" Messines France. He was buried in the Longuenesse (St.Omer) Souvenir Cemetery. His Brother (Lance Corporal 44) William John Goode (enlisted N.S.W) died 8 may 1915 in Alexandria from a gunshot wound to the head received at Gallipoli. Goode, Esq, M.A., M.D , M. Ch , R.N., Macquarie Street, Sydney, grandson of the late D. Riddiford Esq., Wobura, Wellington, N.Z., and brother of the late Sergeant W. J.
