It is with sorrow that I chronicle the death of Private Ern Goold who was killed in action on June 12th Private Goold was the third son of Mr and Mrs Geo Goold of Sprent and enlisted, with many other local lads about 12 months ago. He was located in Egypt for some time and then proceded to France where he took part in some of the recent engagements and gave his life nobly for the Empire. He was very popular at Sprent and will be missed by his many friends. A memorial service is to be held next Sunday in St Andrew’s Anglican Church. The Weekly Courier 6th July 1916
