Gould, Bruce

 

Born 28th April 1889 Scottsdale Tasmania to George Frederick and Annie Gould (nee Nairne) a farmer he embarked Hobart 20th October 1914 on board “HMAT Geelong” with the 12th Infantry Battalion

 He was killed in action 2nd May 1915 on the Gallipoli Peninsula and is commemorated on the Lone Pine Memorial, Gallipoli, Turkey.

Pte. B Gould, 12th battalion who was killed in action at the Dardanelles on the 10th inst joined the expeditionary force soon after the commencement of the war. He had resided in Scottsdale during the whole of his life, and the sympathy of the district goes out to the widowed mother, Mrs. A. Gould, of "Mona Vale," and the other members of the bereaved family. The deceased soldier was 26 years of age, and was particularly well known in the locality. He served in the volunteer militia for a number of years, and was also an enthusiastic member of the Scottsdale Brass Band.
