Green, Harold George

 

Born 1895 Launceston Tasmania the son of Arthur Thomas and Julia Green (nee Whiting) a tailor he embarked Melbourne 5th January 1916 on board “HMAT Afric” with the 26th Infantry Battalion.  He was appointed Sergeant 23rd September 1916.

 

Sgt Green was killed in action 5th November 1916 in France and is commemorated on theWarlencourt British Cemetery, Warlencourt-Eaucourt, Arras, France. 

 

News has been received of the death, killed in action on November 5, of Sergeant H. G. Green, son of Mr. A. Green, of 95 Margaret-street. The young soldier was 20 years of age and prior to enlistment, was employed as a tailor by Mr. J. Lyall. He was the secretary of the Military Football Club.
