Groom Charles James

Born 3^rd May 1890 Hobart Tasmania the son of George Frederick and Mary Groom (nee Scarlet) married to Margaret Maryanne Brown a 25 year old painter living at 67 Gunn Street Launceston he embarked Melbourne 18^th February 1916 on board “HMAT Ballarat” with the 12^th Infantry Battalion.

He was killed in action 5^th May 1917 at Bapaume France and is commemorated on the Australian National Memorial, Villers-Bretonneux, France
