Groom Charles James

Private Charles James Groom

 

Born 3rd May 1890 Hobart Tasmania the son of George Frederick and Mary Groom (nee Scarlet) married to Margaret Maryanne Brown a 25 year old painter living at 67 Gunn Street Launceston he embarked Melbourne 18th February 1916 on board “HMAT Ballarat” with the 12th Infantry Battalion.

 

He was killed in action 5th May 1917 at Bapaume France and is commemorated on the Australian National Memorial, Villers-Bretonneux, France
