Grundy, Thomas Clifton

 

 

Born 6th January 1892 Deloraine Tasmania the son of Joseph and Sarah Jane Grundy (nee Morgan) he embarked Hobart 1st July 1916 on board “HMAT Berrima” with the 40th Infantry Battalion.

 

He died 13th November 1918 at the 3rd Australian General Hospital France from broncho pneumonia and was buried in the Abbeville Communal Cemetery Extension, Abbeville, Somme, France

 

His brother Pte Joseph William Grundy (No 394) was killed in action 3rd January 1917 in France and is commemorated in the Cite Bonjean Military Cemetery, Armentieres, Lille, France 

 

Yesterday Mrs. A. V. Mitchell, of Ulverstone, received information through the Rev. W. S. Williams that her son, Pte. Thomas Clifton Grundy, had succumbed to an attack of bronchial-pneumonia in No. 3 Australian General Hospital:  The mother was in happy anticipation of his early return, but he passed away two days after the cessation of hostilities.
