Gurr, Hedley Arthur 

 

 

Born 15th April 1886 Launceston Tasmania the son of Jeremiah Bellion and Isabella Gurr (nee Hutley) a lawyer’s clerk he embarked Melbourne 11th May 1917 on board “HMAT Ascanius” with the Field Artillery Brigade Reinforcements.

 

He was serving with the 2nd Field Artillery Brigade when he was killed in action 11th October 1917 at Westhoek Ridge Belgium when he was hit by a shelland killed instantly.  He is commemorated in the The Huts Cemetery

GURR. -Killed in action In France on the 11th October, Hedley Arthur Gurr, fourth son of J. B. and I. Gurr, "Manora," Elphin-street, aged 31 Years.
