Haney Joseph Francis
Born 8th December 1881 New Norfolk Tasmania to Charles and Mary Haney (nee Burk) a miner who departed Melbourne 16th October 1915 on board “HMAT Port Lincoln” with the 12th Infantry Battalion.
He was serving with the 52nd Battalion when he was hit by machine gun fire in a charge at Moquet Farm ¾ September 1916. His body was not recovered. He is commemorated on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, France.
