Harrison, Claude Vernon
Born 13th September 1892 Hobart Tasmania the son of Patrick and Sophie Emma Harrison (nee Skinner) a butcher he embarked Hobart 20th October 1914 on board “HMAT Geelong” with the 12th Infantry Battalion. He was killed in action 23rd July 1916 at Pozieres France and is commemorated on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial. His brother Percy Herbert Harrison (No 2454) died 5th November 1916 in France and is also commemorated on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial. KILLED IN ACTION. News has been received by Mr. and Mrs. P. Harrison, of Hobart, that their son, Lance-Corporal Claude Vernon, has been killed in the recent fighting in France. Deceased participated in the landing at Gallipoli where he received wounds necessitating his removal to Egypt. Later he returned to the Dardanelles, where be was again wounded and invalided to London. He regained his company in France, and was with them until he was killed. His parents have two other sons at present serving in France The North Western Advocate 24th August 1916
