Born 1894 Devonport Tasmania to Christopher John and Lillian Caroline Harrison (nee Andrews) an engineer he embarked Hobart 20th October 1914 on board “HMAT Geelong” with the 12th Infantry Battalion Lance Corporal Harrison was killed in action 25th April 1915 on the Gallipoli Peninsula and is commemorated on the Lone Pine Memorial, Gallipoli, Turkey. MYSTERY NO LONGER. The mystery attached to the fate of Lance Corporal H Harrison 12th Battalion was officially dispelled last evening when a telegram addressed to the Baptist minister at Devonport was received from Hobart stating that it was officially reported that L.-Cpl. H. C. Harrison was killed in action at the Dardenelles on April 25 (more than five months ago) The message expressed regret for the loss sustained by the King and the Empire. The Rev. F. A. Leedor at once waited on Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Harrison, and delivered the intelligence which confirmed their worst fears despite contrary private reports that had been circulated. Only yesterday the 'Advocate' published an extract from one of his companion's letters, and referred to the mystery surrounding his fate. The North Western Advocate 1st October 1915
