Hawkins William

A blacksmith from Devonport West who listed his brother B. V. Hawkins of Devonport as his next of kin he embarked Melbourne 10^th May 1915 on board “HMAT Euripides” with the 23^rd Infantry Battalion and the rank of Sergeant.

He held the rank of Company Sergeant Major when he was killed in action 9^th October 1917 in Belgium and is commemorated on theMenin Gate Memorial, Ypres, Flanders, Belgium
