Heckrath, Cyril Alfred Born 22nd March 1885 Kimberley South Africa the son of Edmund and Bessie Heckrath married with three children a store keeper/farmer he embarked Brisbane 29th June 1915 on board “HMAT Aeneas” with the 26th Infantry Battalion. He served Gallipoli where he contracted enteric fever and was admitted to the 3rd London General Hospital and on recovery proceeded to France. He was killed in action 14th November 1916 at Flers France (previously reported missing) and is commemorated on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, Villers-Bretonneux, Picardie, France Lance Cpl C. A. Heckrath of Bridport who some months ago was reported missing, has now been reported killed in action on November 14/16, word to that effect having been received at Scottsdale last Friday, and conveyed to the widow by Mr H. G Salier the same evening. The late soldier was well known and widely esteemed and the deepest sympathy will be felt for his wife and three children in their bereavement.
