Heffernan, George Vincent

 

 

Born 1891 Deloraine Tasmania the son of William and Maria Heffernan (nee Stanley) married to Ruby Pearl Wood a clerk he embarked Sydney 25th June on board “HMAT Berrima” with the 20th Infantry Battalion.

 

He was wounded in action on the Gallipoli Peninsula and died 15th December 1915 aboard the hospital ship “Dunluce Castle” from a severe head wound and was buried at sea between Anzac and Mudros.

 He is commemorated on the Lone Pine Memorial, Gallipoli, Turkey.
