WW1
Henderson, Robert
Born 1893 Mangana Tasmania to David and Clara Annie Henderson (nee Parker) a miner he embarked Hobart 1st July 1916 on board “HMAT Berrima” with the 40th Infantry Battalion. He was serving with the 49th Battalion when he died 7th March 1917 from wounds received in the field and was buried in the St Sever Cemetery Extension, Rouen, France. Private Robert Henderson has paid the supreme sacrifice. The sad news of his death from wounds in France was conveyed to his people at Mangana by the Rev. W. Earle. He was a genial young fellow (says our correspondent), and was liked by all who knew him. He attended the local state school, and his name is on the Roll of Honour. His parents (Mr. and Mrs. David Henderson) and family have the deep sympathy of all in their sad loss; but the young fellow will be judged a hero
