Hewett Benjamin Joseph
Born 25th October 1897 Hobart Tasmania the son of John Robert and Ada Frances Hewitt (nee Smith) a pastry cook he embarked Melbourne 11th October 1915 on board “HMAT Nestor” with the 3rd Field Artillery Brigade 10-12 Reinforcements.
He was serving with the 103rd Heavy Battery Australian Field Artillery when he died 9th November 1916 in France when the dugout he was in collapsed and he was suffocated. He is commemorated in the Dantzig Alley British Cemetery, Mametz, Albert Combles Area, France
