Higgins, Richard Robert

 

 

 

Tasmanian Mail 9th September 1915 

 

Born 16th September 1891 New Norfolk Tasmania to Richard Ford and Mary Higgins (nee Heffernan) he embarked Hobart 20th October 1914 on HMAT Geelong with the 3rd Field Artillery Brigade. 

He died from wounds received at Gallipoli on 1st. August 1915 and is commemorated on the Lone Pine Memorial, Turkey.

HIGGINS— On August 1. 1915. died of wounds at the Dardanelles, Richard Robert, second beloved son of Richard Ford and the late Mary Jane Higgins, of Augusta road, Newtown (late of Bushy Park), aged 24 years. Loved by all who knew him.
