Higgins, William Walter
He was killed in action 28th March 1918 when he was shot in the head by a sniper whilst carrying ammunition to the front line. He is commemorated on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, Villers-Bretonneux, Picardie, France
Official notification has been received
by Mr. John
Higgins
of Apsley that his son,
Walter
William
has been killed in action in France. Private
Higgins
enlisted at the end of November, 1916. Two of his
brothers were also at the front. One, Private Norman
Higgins
has returned wounded and the other Private Sydney
Higgins
is still on active service. The Mercury 17th April 1918
