Born 9th June 1897 Launceston Tasmania the son of Joseph Hubert and Emma Louisa Higgs (nee Walklate). Leading Signalman Higgs who was serving on “HMAS Arawa” died 3rd April 1919 at the Royal Naval Hospital, Plymouth, United Kingdom from influenza and was buried in Ford Park Cemetery, Pennycomequick, Plymouth, Devon, England, United Kingdom.
