Hill, Robert Bertram

 

 

Born 9th July 1888 Oyster Cove Tasmania the son of Robert and Emma Elizabeth Hill (nee Bridges) married to Lillie May Mayne with four children, a labourer he embarked Melbourne 22nd December 1916 on board “HMAT Persic” with the 12th Infantry Battalion.

 

He died 5th June 1918 at the 15th Casualty Clearing Station Strazeele from shrapnel wounds and was buried in the Ebblinghem Military Cemetery, Ebblinghem, Nord, France.

 Mr Robert Hill 87 Elizabeth Street has received word from Base Records that his eldest son Robert Bertram (Bert) has died from wounds received in action. Two other sons are on active service
