Hine William Lionel

Studio portrait of 175 Private (Pte) (later Sergeant) William Lionel (Leo) Hine, 21st Battalion, of Windsor, Vic. Pte Hine was an engineer and iron-turner prior to his enlistment on 31 January 1915. He embarked with A Company on 10 May 1915 from Melbourne on HMAT Ulysses. He died of wounds received at Becourt, France, on 24 August 1916. He was 26 years old. (Parents lived at Gormanston Tasmania)
