Hing, Frederick George

 

 

Born 1885 in Hotham Victoria the son of Jung (Joshua) Ah Hing and Margaret Hannah Oldis and married in Pioneer Tasmania to Ethel May Lee with 2 daughters, an engine driver he embarked Melbourne 30th September 1916 on board “HMAT Suffolk” with the 12th Infantry Battalion.

He was hit by a shell at Polygon Wood 7th November 1917 and killed instantly and was buried where he fell.  He is commemorated on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial, Belgium.
