Hodgkinson William Henry

Born 27th May 1880 Michelago New South Wales to William Leeming and Catherine Marion Hodgkinson (nee Swain) a miner of 57 Hampden Road Battery Point Tasmania he embarked 18th October 1914 on board “HMAT Afric” with the 1st Infantry Battalion.

 

Was wounded in the head by a sniper on the second day after landing at Gallipoli and died the next day on board a hospital ship and was buried at sea.

 He is commemorated on the Alexandria (Chatby) Military and War Memorial Cemetery, Egypt.
