Holder, Frederick Wm Benjamin
Born 1885 Launceston Tasmania to Frederick William and Ada Elizabeth Holder (nee Waters) a fireman from Magnet Tasmania he embarked Sydney 13th May 1916 on board “HMAT Beltana” with the 24th Howitzer Brigade. He was admitted to the 5th General Hospital 16th August 1918 suffering from the effects of a gas shell and died the following day. He was buried in the St Sever Cemetery Extension, Rouen, France. General regret was expressed when word came through to Waratah on Saturday that Gunner F W B Holder had paid the supreme sacrifice. Prior to enlisting he was in the employ of The Magnet Silver Mining Company and was one of the founders of the local Druids Lodge in which he took a very active interest filling the position of secretary and was held in high esteem by members of the order.
