Holtum Hubert Darcy
Weekly Courier only gives name Holtum wounded at Gallipoli – could be any of the three brothers who were all wounded at Gallipoli
Born 1888 Scottsdale Tasmania the son of Richard and Elizabeth Holtum (nee Duffy) a miner he embarked Melbourne 22nd December 1914 on board “HMAT Ulysses” with the 14th Infantry Battalion under the alias Sydney Wilson
He died 9th June 1915 at Ghezirah from wounds received on the Gallipoli Peninsula (gunshot wound to the head leading to a fractured skull) and is commemorated on the Cairo War Memorial Cemetery, Cairo, Egypt
His two brothers Cyril Robert was killed in action in France and Henry Edward died in England from meningitis.
