Horne, Herbert
Born 23rd January 1892 Bothwell Tasmania the John and Mary Anne Horne (nee Patience) a labourer who departed Melbourne 21st October 1916 on board “HMAT Port Melbourne” with the 40th Infantry Battalion. He was killed in action 22nd April 1918 and is commemorated in the Mericourt-L'Abbe Communal Cemetery Extension, France. HORNE -In loving memory of our dear sons and brothers killed in action in France. April 22, 1918 Private Herbert Harold Horne, aged 26 years also Private William James Horne April 24, 1918 in his 25th year, dearly beloved second and third eldest sons of John and Mary Horne Bothwell.
