Born 3rd September 1895 Emu Bay the son of John Samuel and Caroline Eva How (nee Burgess) a labourer he embarked Melbourne 29th May 1916 on board RMS Orontes with the 12th Infantry Battalion
He was serving with the 52nd Battalion when he was killed in action 8th June 1917 in Belgium and is commemorated on the Menin Gate Memorial, Ypres, Flanders, Belgium
