Born 3^rd September 1895 Emu Bay the son of John Samuel and Caroline Eva How (nee Burgess) a labourer he embarked Melbourne 29^th May 1916 on board RMS Orontes with the 12^th Infantry Battalion

He was serving with the 52^nd Battalion when he was killed in action 8^th June 1917 in Belgium and is commemorated on the Menin Gate Memorial, Ypres, Flanders, Belgium
