Howell, Lionel Arthur
Born 18th September 1887 Bridgewater Tasmania the son of Arthur Jesse and Elizabeth Howell (nee Denholm) a farmer who had spent four years with the Derwent Infantry he embarked Hobart 1st July 1916 on board “HMAT Berrima” with the 40th Infantry Battalion.
Lance Corporal Howell had received a gun shot wound to the stomach in France and after spending time in hospital in England was returning to Australia for discharge when he had to be taken off ship and admitted to hospital with an infected kidney but died 29th August 1918 at the No 8 General Hospital in Western Australia and was buried in the Fremantle Cemetery. HOWELL-On August 29 1918 died of wounds received in action on October 4 1917 Lionel Arthur dearly beloved second eldest son of Arthur and, the late Elizabeth Howell Glenlusk aged 31 years.
