Husband Leslie Born 9th April 1882 Sheffield Tasmania the son of John and Ann Husband (nee Nelson) and married to Mary Anne Carey a farmer he embarked Melbourne 21st November 1917 on board “HMAT Nestor” with the 4th Machine Gun Company. He was killed in action 4th June 1918 and is commemorated in the Borre British Cemetery, France. Still another Sheffield soldier has received the last call. On Friday afternoon Rev. B. L. Simmons conveyed the sad news to Mrs. L. Husband that her husband Pte. L. Husband had been killed in action in France. The deceased was the youngest son of Mr. John Husband, of 'Staunton,' Sheffield. He was keen to enlist from the outbreak of the war, and finally left Australia about 12 months ago. He had seen active service prior to the present world outbreak, he having joined the Bushmen's Contingent, and passed through the final stages of the South African war; He leaves a widow and two young children to mourn their loss.
