Born 18th April 1897 Longford Tasmania to Christopher and Charlotte Sophia Ion (nee Sizer) a miner who departed Melbourne 24th August 1916 on board “HMAT Botanist” with the 12th Infantry Battalion

 He died from wounds received in action 15th April 1917 Beugny, Pas De Calais, France and was buried Red Cross Corner Cemetery, Beugny, France.  He was 19 years old.
