Jarman, Cyril Leslie

 

 

Born 27th July 1895 Launceston Tasmania to Richard and Annie Jarman (nee Lee) who departed Tasmania with the 12th Battalion 1st Contingent 17th September 1914 on board “HMAT Geelong”. 

 

He participated in the landing at Gallipoli and was there until evacuation and then crossed to France where he was killed in action 17th April 1918 and is commemorated in the Borre British Cemetery, France.

Had two brothers also on active service - Pte Stanley Jarman and Pte Leonard Jarman (MM).

The Reverend Mr Baker conveyed the sad news to Mr R Jarman that his son, Private C L Jarman was killed in action in France on April 17th 1918.  He is the third son of Mr and Mrs Jarman on active service and left Tasmania 3 ˝ years ago with the 12th Battalion.  He was at the landing at Gallipoli and went right through the campaign.  He then crossed to France where he has since been fighting.  Two brothers are still on active service.
