Jarvis, Henry Thomas

 

Born 1891 South Bridgewater Tasmania the son of Thomas David and Afhild Wyndam Jarvis (nee Fleming) a labourer he embarked Melbourne 19th February 1915 on board “HMAT Runic” with the 12th Infantry Battalion bound for the Gallipoli Peninsula.

He was serving with the 52nd Battalion when he was killed in action 4th September 1916 at Moquet Farm and is commemorated on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, France. 

His brother Pte Richard George Jarvis (No 161) died 25th April 1915 on the Gallipoli Peninsula and is commemorated on the Lone Pine Memorial, Gallipoli, Turkey.

JARVIS. -Killed in action in France on September 4, 1916 (previously reported missing), Private Henry Thomas Jarvis, dearly beloved and eldest son of Thomas and Afhild Jarvis, of New Norfolk, in the 25th year of his age.
